ABOLITION THROUGH EDUCATION

American education has its roots in exclusion, submission, and eugenics. Schools are often not places where Black and Brown children feel safe, welcomed, and nourished. Heavy police presences in schools criminalizes students, and curriculum aim to force students into submission rather than challenge what the world is now and imagine a better tomorrow. However, in New Haven, there is a long legacy of people have been resisting and rebuilding education to be something beautiful for centuries.
