ARTLC Organizers Teach Sessions at the African American Policy Forum’s Annual Critical Race Theory Summer School

Last week, the ARTLC’s Daisha Brabham, Nataliya Braginsky and Daniel Martinez HoSang joined nearly one hundred other faculty and instructors who taught in the African American Policy Forum’s annual Critical Race Theory Summer School titled “Teaching Truth to Power.” The event brought together hundreds of educators, organizers, students, parents, lawyers, and others interested in the everyday applications of Critical Race Theory to build an inclusive multi-racial democracy.

Martinez HoSang moderated the opening plenary, “Everyday CRT: A Commonsense Framework for Racial Liberation” featuring Gloria Ladson-Billings and Kimberle Crenshaw. Brabham co-taught a session with University of Florida Professor Paul Ortiz titled “Teaching with Social Movements” while Braginksy led a session with two other ethnic studies educators on “K-12 Campaigns for Ethnic Studies.” All sessions were a part of a week-long “Educators Take Action” breakout theme organized by Martinez HoSang. The ARTLC looks forward to further collaborations with the African American Policy Forum.
