ARTLC Teacher Organizers Help Plan, Coordinate, and Lead NHPS 2nd Annual Culturally Relevant Pedagogy Conference

Sponsored by the Nellie Mae Foundation, the NHPS 2nd Annual Culturally Relevant Pedagogy Conference took place virtually August 8th and 9th. ARTLC members Marco Cenabre, Nataliya Braginsky, and Sami Ginzburg were essential members of the conference planning and coordinating team.

The conference included roughly two dozen workshops and presentations from accomplished educators and CRP advocates nationwide, including Akeia “Ki” Gross of Woke Kindergarten, Ursula Wolfe-Rocca of the Zinn Education Project, Chris Newell of Akomawt Educational Initiative, Aaron Jafferis of The Word, and more. ARTLC members Dan HoSang, Daisha Brabham, Nataliya Braginsky, Lauren Anderson, and Jennifer Heikkila Díaz contributed workshops as well.

The conference featured two inspiring keynotes - one by educator, author, and activist Jesse Hagopian and one by renowned education scholar Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings, author of many books and articles, including The Dreamkeepers: Successful Teachers of African American Children.

Participants included NHPS teachers and paraprofessionals, all of whom were compensated for their attendance.
